> The problem/project:

Avior was using basic Microsoft Publisher software to create these reports. An outside firm had been contracted to create a design template. Creating another report was therefore expensive, difficult, and time-consuming. I suggested that we use industry standard software Adobe InDesign instead. Then I was given a healthy balance of direction and autonomy throughout the projects. I worked closely with the senior manager to research, design, and print these industry reports that were used for marketing.

> My contribution:

I was heavily involved in the research and data analysis, making use of reliable sources such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics to get accurate information. I didn't design the reports from scratch, an outside firm had created the initial design template. I used my knowledge of InDesign to compile the reports, and my graphic design experience to suggest design alternatives. I also managed the printing process, liaising with printers to ensure technical details such as colour profiles and document bleed were all sorted. The senior manager led the project and wrote the content.

> Results:

My assistance meant that Avior was able to produce these reports in-house, whilst still working to a professional standard. This led to reduced marketing costs for the firm.

I mainly used Microsoft Excel, Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign.
